{"id":40938,"date":"2026-08-14T10:11:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T07:11:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eximbank.ro\/?p=40938"},"modified":"2026-08-14T10:17:58","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T07:17:58","slug":"exim-banca-romaneasca-joins-eur-229-million-financing-for-the-parau-2-solar-and-storage-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eximbank.ro\/en\/2026\/08\/14\/exim-banca-romaneasca-joins-eur-229-million-financing-for-the-parau-2-solar-and-storage-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Exim Banca Rom\u00e2neasc\u0103 Joins EUR 229 Million Financing for the Parau 2 Solar and Storage Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Financing consortium of EBRD, BSTDB, Exim Banca Romaneasca, NLB, OTP Bank and Intesa Sanpaolo Romania, with EU InvestEU guarantee support, backs a 342 MWp solar PV plant with 150 MW of co-located battery storage in Bra\u0219ov County<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Econergy has signed financing agreements for its Parau 2 solar and battery energy storage project with a six-lender consortium comprising the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), Exim Banca Romaneasca S.A., NLB d.d., OTP Bank Plc and Banca Comerciala Intesa Sanpaolo Romania, for an aggregate financing package of approximately EUR 229 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parau 2 will combine a 342 MWp solar photovoltaic power plant with 150 MW of co-located battery energy storage system The battery system will allow electricity generated on site to be stored and dispatched when the grid needs it, supporting the integration of renewable energy and improving the flexibility of Romania\u2019s electricity system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parau 2 also secured the largest capacity award in Romania&#8217;s CfD mechanism, 125 MW(ac) at EUR 49.4\/MWh for 15 years from commercial operation at the end of 2027 or early 2028, locking in long-term revenue stability and a strong financing profile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Traian Halalai, Executive President of Exim Banca Romaneasca, commented:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cAs energy security becomes increasingly important on the global agenda, Exim Banca Romaneasca remains committed to supporting investments that advance the transition to a more diversified, sustainable and resilient energy sector. (together, &#8220;Intesa&#8221;). Approximately EUR 114.4 million of the main facility is supported by an EU InvestEU guarantee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently under construction, Parau 2 is expected to enter commercial operation at the end of 2027 or early 2028.
