{"id":7711,"date":"2019-11-28T14:43:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T11:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eximbank.ro\/en\/?p=2691"},"modified":"2019-11-28T14:43:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T11:43:24","slug":"the-three-seas-initiative-investment-fund-the-investment-vehicle-for-financing-infrastructure-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eximbank.ro\/en\/2019\/11\/28\/the-three-seas-initiative-investment-fund-the-investment-vehicle-for-financing-infrastructure-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"The Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, the investment vehicle for financing infrastructure projects"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Bucharest, November 28, 2019<\/strong> \u2013 The strategic and legal framework of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF) position this new vehicle as an accelerator for implementing ambitious projects in priority domains for the Three Seas Region such as transport infrastructure, energy and digital infrastructure, declared the 3SIIF representatives during the <em>Region\u2019s needs and the role of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund\u201d <\/em>conference organized in Bucharest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first event promoting 3SIIF activity\nafter its incorporation in May 2019 by the Polish state owned development bank\nBank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and\nRomanian Government through EximBank, as an economic arm of the political\ndecision of the head of states and governments in the region of the Baltic,\nAdriatic and Black Seas, in order to stimulate the large investment projects in\nthis area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The itinerant event will be hosted in other capital\ncities of the countries in the region and represents an opportunity for the\ninvestment environment to directly gain awareness about the functioning\nmechanisms of the 3SIIF, its commercial and market targets, the investment\nadvisers and the workflows for the mature projects to gain access to\nfinancing.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfinancial resources of the 3SIIF come from the founding entities, BGK and EximBank Romania,\nwith a total contribution of over 500 Million Euro. Further funds may come from\ndevelopment banks and institutions from other Three Seas Initiative countries, supra-national\ninvestors, international investors and the Fund will also closely cooperate\nwith World Bank, European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction\nand Development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe\nmeeting in Bucharest is starting the process of building public awareness of\nthe Three Seas Fund \u2013 a new financial instrument, complementary to the EU\ninstruments funds, although based on commercial rules. Three Seas Fund is\ndedicated to support investments to fill in the infrastructure gaps still\nexiting between Western and Eastern part of Europe. Together with Romania we\nestablish this financial vehicle, other 10 countries are in the decision\nprocess of joining. Romania is for us a very important partner in the Three\nSeas region and Romania&#8217;s rapid development is in the interest of the entire EU.\u201d,\nsaid Beata Daszy\u0144ska-Muzyczka, the President of the Supervisory Board of the\n3SIIF. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe\ncreated the Three Seas Fund to contribute to the implementation of many\ninfrastructure projects in the area of transport, energy and digital in\nRomania, as well as in other countries of Three Seas region. Thanks to\ntransport investments the region will benefit from increased trade. We will\nenhance security through better connected energy infrastructure from north to\nsouth. We really need to strengthen the competitiveness of our region, only\nthis way we can achieve cohesion and sustainably developed EU.\u201d<\/em>, added\nDaszy\u0144ska-Muzyczka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eximbank.ro\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/3SSIF-690x430.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2692\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201d<em>Due to the exceptional efforts of its founders \u2013 BGK from Poland and\nEximBank from &nbsp;Romania \u2013 during the past\nmonths, the 3SIIF is just about to operational, demonstrating our full\ncommitment towards an investment vehicle that can have a critical contribution\nto the economic and social development of our region. At the same time, we are\nnow in various stages of negotiations with other countries from the Three Seas\nregion to join the fund.\u201d, <\/em>said Nicolae Albu, Member\nof the Supervisory Board of the 3SIIF.<em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201dIn this respect and in order to bring awareness on the framework, the\nscope and the objectives of the 3SIIF, we have started a series of promotional\nevents in the Three Seas Initiative countries. At the same time, we see these\nconferences as an invitation to the decision-makers in the Three Seas countries\nto design and promote bankable, large-scale infrastructure projects. The 3SIIF\nis meant to narrow the development gap among various regions of Europe. Having\nsuch an ambitious mission, it will not only benefit the 3SI countries, but also\nthe European Union as a whole.<\/em>\u201d, added Nicolae Albu.<em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3SIIF intends to implement projects in priority\ndomains for the Three Seas Region such as transport infrastructure (e.g.,\nrailroads, internal navigation, ports, highways etc.), energy and digital\ninfrastructure, of an aggregated value 100 Billion Euro. The projects have\nvarious implementation stages, the financing covering a large investment scale\nfrom greenfield, or early stages, to equity, participation in special purpose\ninvestment vehicles or subordinated debts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Investment Fund of the Three Seas Initiative\nwill support and supplement the programs financed with European funds thus\ncontributing to increase competitiveness in the European Union. The fund\u2019s\nresources will add on to national budgets and European funding in the region,\nas the investment strategy allows the involvement in several projects at the\nsame time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is a Polish state\ndevelopment bank that initiates and implements projects promoting economic\ngrowth in Poland and enhancing the quality of citizens\u2019 lives.&nbsp; BGK develops guarantees and sureties schemes\nthat contribute to commercial development. One of the important tasks of BGK is\nalso to support the activities of Polish companies abroad. BGK manages European\nprograms and distributes EU funds at the national and regional level. BGK is\nalso involved in programs aiming at improving access to housing on the\nresidential market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EximBank has been actively involved for more than 25\nyears in supporting and promoting the Romanian business environment by\nendorsing the local companies\u2019 projects. Starting up as an export agency,\nEximBank has evolved and extended this role keeping its unique profile on the\nmarket. Acting as Romanian state agent for guarantees and insurance, EximBank\nis the main channel for infusing the Romanian state funds into the real economy\nin order to sustain increasing competitiveness of local companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three Seas Initiative is a political platform\nof 12 EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas \u2013\nAustria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia,\nLithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
