EximBank participates in creating a platform to support the development in Balkan and Central Europe region

Bucharest, June 18, 2019 – The Export–Import Bank of Romania – EximBank will participate to creating an on-line platform that will allow presenting large-scale investments projects in the Balkan and Central Europe region as well as identifying the respective financing sources, under the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) initiative.

The project was launched during the International Economic Forum Paths for Partnerships that took place June 17-18, 2019 in Bulgaria, when EximBank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bulgarian Development Bank. The platform offers to the countries in the region the opportunity to present initiatives in various  economic domains as well as the respective  co-financing resources  and also to foster the inter-institutional dialogue and to share the success experiences and best practices in terms of financing strategic projects in infrastructure, economic development and trade.

The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by national promotional and development institutions from Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia and is focused on implementing infrastructure projects by mobilizing financing from different sources, without the accumulation of debt by individual governments.

International Economic Forum “Paths for Partnerships  has a  main focus on InvestEU program, which is a continuation of the Juncker Plan aiming at putting together all the financial instruments available in the European Union so that financing projects in this area should become simpler, more efficient and flexible.

EximBank’s involvement in the initiative comes on the background of its constant concern for dialogue with the similar entities for both refining and modernizing its portfolio in order to be able to structure and finance large scale / complex projects and to create favorable business contexts and level playground field for the Romanian exporters.

Recently, the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund has been launched, focusing on supporting projects in transportation, energy, digital infrastructure in the Three Seas region, an investment vehicle created by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego from Poland and The Export–Import Bank of Romania – EximBank that signed the Articles of Association at the end of May 2019.

EximBank is actively involved for more than 25 years in supporting and promoting the Romanian business environment by endorsing local companies’ projects. The bank was at first an export agency and has evolved in overcoming its status by keeping its unique features.

Following the re-adjustments of the business pillars, in order to adapt to the national and global economic environment EximBank is now in full capacity in offering to the corporate segment a product and services portfolio appealing to any type of company either SME  or large company, involved in international transactions or active solely on internal market..

In addition, EximBank is acting as state agent on the Romanian market for guarantees and insurances being the main channel for infusing the Romanian state funds into the real economy, thus contributing to increasing the competitive level of local companies.
