Traian Halalai: we are honoured to participate in the Small Modular Reactor Project in Doicesti along with the other international financial partners

Bucharest, May 20th, 2023 – The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, announced at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima concrete steps to implement the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, mentioning the public-private partnership for the Small Modular Reactor Project in Doicesti, Dambovita county, involving Exim Banca Romaneasca (previously known as EximBank Romania).

According to the Department of State of the United States, the partners that support the deployment of the Romanian project are Japan Bank for International Cooperation (Japan), DS Private Equity (Republic of Korea), Exim Banca Românească (previously known as EximBank Romania), S.N. Nuclearelectrica S.A., Nova Power & Gas S.R.L. (Romania), Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) United Arab Emirates, DFC and Exim US.

The Small Modular Reactors deployed in Romania will replace the coal generated power capacity in Doicesti with clean energy, using the expertise gained in the similar Carbon Free Power Project developed in Idaho, USA,  and the more than 25 years long Romanian experience in safe and secure  management of nuclear power, mentioned the US Department of State.
