Warning

Attention to the messages received after posting some sale adds!

We recommend people who have posted sales ads on sites not to communicate the data on the card, which are confidential and used exclusively for acquisitions and not for receipts. Holders are advised to check all the details before making a transaction.

Attention to the SMS messages received and the promotion campaigns with incredible offers!

The main methods used for scams are SMS or email messages that seem to be sent from known companies, which require either accessing links or downloading files or images (which may contain viruses), or providing confidential information, such as bank details, passwords, card numbers.

Avoid clicking on links for various incredible offers received on email or while browsing the internet, at the same time, if you want to make a transaction within an online store, follow that the amount initially communicated by the merchant to be the same on the page where you enter the card details for authorizing the transaction or on the login page using the 3DSecure code.

Some clues that will help you identify fraudulent messages: spelling mistakes, grammar, unusual expressions, website addresses with strange extensions and anything else unusual. In addition, misleading messages often encourage you to act quickly to keep your account open, to update your computer’s security system or to provide certain information immediately, informing you that there will be inconveniences if you do not act like this.

If you want to check the validity of the messages received by sms or email, you can always count on our help if you call us at the phone number 021.304.8100, The Card Customer Support service, available 24/7.

The safety of your money is our main concern.

Cards Security

We are committed to ensuring the safest possible banking services and we use the most effective security measures to protect your money, your personal data and transactions confidentiality.

Be vigilant

It is known that the villains especially aim to find out what is the PIN of your debit or credit card:

  • Every time you write the PIN code at an ATM or a POS in a public space, you should be vigilant.
  • Always keep your card in a safe place, not exposed to direct view.
  • Do not allow anyone else to use it.
  • Do not disclose to anyone your PIN code – not even to your family, bank or police – do not write your PIN code on paper.
  • When you receive a new PIN, memorize it immediately and destroy the envelope including it.

Security of credit and debit cards

We make all the required efforts to protect your cards against frauds. You are protected by:

  • Chip and PIN technology.
  • Efficient system of frauds detection.
  • Immediate assistance.
  1. Chip and PIN technology

The new debit and credit cards use Cip and PIN technology.

They include a chip, easy to recognize by the golden square on the left side of the card.

The chip is actually a microchip incorporated in your debit or credit card. The chip includes your personal data (such as, for instance, your name, the card number and its expiry date) and provides additional security functions.

Chip and PIN technology compares the PIN you write on the keyboard of an ATM of a POS to that stored in the bank’s system and to that on the chip. In this way, your identity is verified, instead of checking up your signature on the receipt. Some merchants might still ask you to sign the receipt, although this is no longer necessary.

When you receive the chosen card, you will also receive the PIN in a separate envelope or you can take it personally from you preferred branch. You have the option to change the PIN with one easier to remember, by using the bank’s ATMs.

You can withdraw cash using your card and PIN from any ATM in Romania and abroad if they show the logos MasterCard®, Visa or Visa Electron, also shown on the card.

It has been proved that the use of Chip and PIN technology reduced very much the number of card frauds, the payment by card operations becoming much safer. This is the safest way to withdraw cash and to pay, as it combines the advanced technology of cards with chip with your 4 figures PIN code.

  1. Efficient system of frauds detection

The activities in your account are monitored in real time to inform you as soon as possible about any activity/transaction suspected of being fraudulent.

Things you should consider before, during and after you make operations at an ATM

  • Be aware of the persons looking suspicious and of anything happening around you and the ATM terminal.
  • Do not accept in any case help from “kind” persons when you withdraw cash from an ATM terminal. If you need help, ask it only from the bank.
  • If you notice something strange, leave the respective place and come back later. Even if you started a transaction, cancel it and leave the respective place.
  • Prepare all the documents you need for the operations at ATM before reaching the respective place. In this way, you reduce the time spent near the ATM terminal.
  • Be aware of everything happening around you for the whole period of operations. Do not focus so much on what you do at ATM terminal that you miss the change of safety conditions in the respective zone.
  • Do not wear expensive jewelry and do not take with you high value objects when you go to an ATM. This could attract a potential aggressor.
  • When you withdraw cash from ATM, do not keep it in sight; place immediately the money in a safe place. Do not stop to count the money in front of the ATM terminal.
  • When you use ATM terminals in the evening or at night, you should better be accompanied by someone; if you go by car, stop as close as possible to the ATM in a well lit zone and do not forget to lock the car. If the lights around the ATM terminal are not adequate, do not use that ATM terminal.
  • When you leave the ATM, make sure you are not followed. If you are followed, head to a police station, a crowded zone or a well lit zone. Turn on the car lights and horn to draw the attention on your situation.
  • If you are involved in a confrontation with the aggressor and he/she is armed and asking your money or value objects, GIVE THEM TO THE AGGRESSOPR. Do not resist, the goods can be recovered later or replaced.

As for the security, you can never be too careful, too prepared or too aware of dangers. Our goal is that everyone is correctly informed and safe.

You can also help us meet this goal by conveying the above recommendations to your family and friends.

Call the telephone number written on the back of the card whenever you suspect something is wrong regarding its use at ATM/POS.
