Traian Halalai: Exim Banca Romaneasca is one of the key institutions supporting Romania’s accession to OECD

Bucharest, November 8, 2023 – Exim Banca Romaneasca is one of the key institutions supporting Romania’s accession to OECD, a national project of similar significance as the country’s membership to European Union and NATO, declared today Traian Halalai, Executive President of the bank during the Paris meeting of the Export Credit Guarantees Working Party of OECD, in view of Romania’s adherence to this entity.

”Exim Banca Romaneasca has extensive experience in participating to the technical common lines at EU level in terms of financial instruments used by Governments to contribute to the international transactions development, which allows a rapid integration of OECD practices for speeding up the export official support and harmonizing of local companies’ policies with the organization’s requirements. To this extent, the Exim Banca Romaneasca’s medium- and long-term strategy continues to significantly focus on ECA activity, especially in terms of the information flow and ensuring the synergies with the commercial arm mostly on ESG and mitigating climate change.  I am convinced that by being part in the discussions in the working groups at EU and OECD level we will contribute to the Romanian exporters’ presence in large international projects that will emphasize the local companies’ potential”, added Traian Halalai.

He mentioned that Romanian being present among the OECD member states confirms the local economy growing trend and supports capitalizing on future significant investment opportunities, considering that the financial instruments portfolio of Exim Banca Romaneasca positions the bank as a valuable partner in the process both from governmental perspective and local businesses dynamics.

Exim Banca Romaneasca is the sole Romanian financial institution specialized in promoting exports in line with the OECD Arrangement standards regarding officially supported export credits.

OECD Council decided last year to start accession discussions with Romania that became an official accession country. On June 10, 2022, the OECD Council adopted the Romania Accession to OECD Roadmap. During the accession process, Romania will be evaluated in 26 sectorial committees according to the Key Accession Principles and based on each committee pace and procedures.
